The Summer Reading and Writing Workshop is a course that is designed to sharpen a student's basic language skills through a variety of well-structured activities and exercises that will deepen the understanding of the different nuances of English Language. Our well qualified, experienced teachers take special effort in customizing the course to tailor to the strength and weakness of every student. The syllabus is designed to be fun, intellectually stimulating and challenging. You can choose to focus on both ‘Reading’ and ‘Writing’ or chose to focus one of the areas exclusively.

Writing Workshop

This program is intended for students who would like to improve and enhance their writing skills. The focus of the course is to understand the fundamental skills of good writing, developing good ideas and exploring the right techniques and structure. Students will work both on the elements of non-fiction and fiction. The creative writing assignments will focus on the various aspects of writing including setting, theme, style, character and the development of the plot. They will also work on a variety of different writing styles, descriptive, persuasive or narrative. To ensure the effectiveness and correctness of the writing assignments our teachers will also review various topics in grammar and punctuation.

Reading Workshop

The course is designed for students who would like to polish their critical reading skills over the summer. The program takes them through step-by-step instructions where they learn to find the main idea, the details and the sequence of events in a text. They learn to understand and interpret beyond basic comprehension and develop their own opinion and interpretations of the work. Students will learn strategies to break down a difficult or less engaging passage into easily comprehensible material. They will also work to improve their vocabulary and diction.
