Preliminary SAT(PSAT) is a standardized test cosponsored by the College Board and National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC). The main purpose of this test is to provide the students with a firsthand practice for the SAT. It helps them to effectively prepare for the SAT. They can become familiar with the kind of questions and the exact directions that will be seen on the SAT. This test is also termed as NMSQT, National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test as this is also a qualifying test to enter NMSC scholarship programs and gain access to college and career planning tools.
The test is given in the month of October and it measures the same subjects that is tested on SAT; Reading, Writing & Math.
